A winner tries to judge his own acts by their consequences and other people’s acts by their intentions; a loser gives himself the best of it by judging his own acts by their intentions, and the acts of others by their consequences. -Sidney J. Harris, “Winners and Losers”
BTW- really love your posts, although the line between the 2 baskets you publish is pretty thin 🤣. I'm sad I haven't written in awhile so I'm not in your collection. 😉
With respect, CB, the people at the top in the Left are homicidal maniacs intent on world domination, otherwise known as Neocons. The rank and file sheeple are just following the dictates of the mass media, believing that it is all for the good, and that the ends justify the means.
The people at the top on the right are also Neocons, which means we have a serious problem.
I don't disagree about the people on the top. My experience is mostly with the foot soldiers--like local school board members. They have no interest in data despite claiming to being "data-driven." Reading and math scores in our district are falling, but their "equity" causes are more noble than standardized testing. And they justify past school closures with platitudes "we did the best we could based on what we knew at the time." In the heat of the battles, however, they were consumed with the virtue of safety and blind to evidence that suggested current and future harms to kids. In the end, we were right and they were wrong. But they will never believe that. They can't. They are incapable of getting past their intent.

Great quote. (Would have been great for the article!)

So true. I am having a hard time keeping track where the line should be. Basically everything is a conspiracy or I have just gone insane.
